Going Green Can Save You Green

It’s kind of a strange time these days.  We have some pretty significant economic challenges and we are also facing the consequences of some poor decisions about our energy use.  People are looking for ways to save money and going green. 

The thing you need to keep in mind is that being more environmentally friendly and saving money are not mutually exclusive concepts.  You can accomplish both at the same time.

Doing your part to help out the planet can be as big or as small as you want it to be.  Just by implementing the green movements mantra of ‘reduce, reuse, recycle’ can make a big impact on the environment and it won’t be a big deal for you to do. 

Trying to cut back on energy consumption will save you a lot of money and there will be fewer harmful emissions that you are putting into the environment.

This can be accomplished by driving less, making sure your car is tuned up, and properly inflating your tires. 

The savings can be even more significant at home.  In most households the number one expense is utility costs. You could literally save thousands of dollars every single year if you made some simple changes around your house.

Changes like making sure you have adequate insulation, repairing or replacing old drafty windows and doors, turning your thermostat down when you’re not there or at night, and generating your own electricity.

Out of all of those things I listed the one that may have caught your eye was generating your own electricity.  Many people don’t even realize that this is an option.

You don’t have to put up with the greed and poor environmental policies of your local utility company.  You can build your own home wind turbine or solar panels for $200 and cut your energy bills by more half.
